I was viewing paintings made over a period of time and from several countries when I was struck by the sub-genre of works depicting members of the elite, the wealthy, the privileged, the rich, posing on their favourite horse.
It got me to thinking about those born out of privilege and what their 'pose' might be.. and so, these 'vignettes'.
The ordinary every day (or any day) moments and times raised to the heights of, not the extraordinary, but the commendable. Or more perhaps.
The pursuit of a life through the mostly humble and earnest moments none of which concern how well one sits a horse.
The vignette names should be taken as painting titles. The pieces are not of course songs but simple gesture drawings - brief but with perhaps a clear suggestion of mood.

I wanted to use the sonority and the timbre of the piano but I played it as a flute - if you get what I mean.
I tried to hitch a motif or two through it all to give some sense of 'togetherness'.

One or two take improvisations.
